Build and send your first campaign
A campaign is a one-off email to a list of contacts. Here's how to create and send one.
Create the campaign
Go to Campaigns → New. Give it a name (just for you), then fill in:
- Subject line — the single biggest driver of opens. Keep it short and specific.
- Preview text — the snippet inboxes show after the subject.
- From name and address — defaults to your verified sending domain.
Design the email
Use the editor to write and style your email. You can start from a template, or describe what you want and let Mailee's AI draft it in your brand voice — then edit to taste. Personalise with merge tags like {{firstName}} so each recipient sees their own name.
Choose your audience
Pick one or more lists, or a segment if you want to target by behaviour or attributes — see Segment your audience. Mailee automatically excludes anyone who has unsubscribed or bounced.
Preview and test
Always send a test email to yourself first. Check it on desktop and mobile, click every link, and read it once more for typos.
Send or schedule
When you're happy, send now — or schedule it for later. After it goes out, watch opens, clicks, and bounces under Reports in real time.
Tip: send to your most engaged contacts a little earlier than the rest. Strong early opens signal inboxes that your mail is wanted.
