Mailbox DNS and MX records
For Mailee Mail to receive and send email on your domain, a handful of DNS records need to be in place. This guide explains each one. You'll find the exact values for your domain under Mailboxes & domains → your domain in Mailee.
MX — where your mail is delivered
MX (Mail Exchange) records tell the world which servers receive email for your domain. This is the record that makes inbound mail arrive at your Mailee mailbox at all.

Important: MX records have a priority number. Lower numbers are tried first. If you copy an MX record but lose its priority, mail will not route correctly. If you're switching from another provider, remove their MX records — leaving old MX records in place will split or misdeliver your mail.
SPF — authorise sending
An SPF TXT record authorises Mailee's servers to send mail for your domain, so your outgoing email passes authentication:
v=spf1 include:_spf.mailee.email ~all
Only one SPF record is allowed per domain. If you already have one, merge the include: rather than adding a second.
DKIM — sign your mail
A DKIM record (a CNAME or TXT Mailee provides) lets receivers verify your messages are signed and unaltered. Add it exactly as shown.
Domain verification
Before provisioning, Mailee asks you to add a verification TXT record proving you control the domain. This is removed from the verification flow once confirmed, but it's safe to leave in place.
Putting it together
- In Mailee, open your domain to see every record with its exact host and value.
- Add them at your DNS provider. Pay special attention to MX priority and to removing any previous provider's MX records.
- Click Verify. Propagation can take minutes to hours.

Troubleshooting: if mail isn't arriving, check your MX records first with a tool like MXToolbox. Nine times out of ten it's a missing MX record, a wrong priority, or a leftover record from an old provider.
